Meet the Owner
Washington, DC native, Tiffany Lightfoot, founder and cake artist of My Cake Theory, turned a hobby into an entrepreneurial journey in 2008. While balancing her life as a single mom and working in hospitality and event management, she found time to teach herself the art of baking. With a natural knack for design and a former student of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Tiffany found her sweet spot and began creating delicious, multidimensional cakes with impeccable details. Her cakes are not only made with special uniqueness and creative details, she is able to market her cakes and cupcakes as custom confectionary creations. Tiffany unapologetically adds her own original flavor and style to every dessert.
Even from a young age, Tiffany has always enjoyed being in the kitchen. She attests that her grandmother was a major influence in her culinary success by sharing cooking tips and recipes as well as showing her that good food is made with love.
Tiffany cultivated her home based business part time working constantly and consistently over the last 12 years growing her clientele through family, friends, word-of-mouth and referrals.
After overcoming her fears and self doubt, she took the leap of faith and became a full-time entrepreneur in September 2019. Her decision to pursue My Cake Theory full-time has allowed her to invest more time, money, research, and intentional effort into her dream.
Fast forwarding to today, her business continues to experience exponential growth. With the determination of making My Cake Theory a success, she has found the path to true entrepreneurship by opening her first brick and mortar on Washington, DC’s Capitol Hill, where her innovative and trendsetting abilities will introduce an original fast-casual confectionary experience to the area.
Tiffany looks forward to helping others aspiring to follow their dreams and believe it’s possible to change the trajectory of their lives.
